| Living
with 2 sisters 28 JUL 07 If you guys still have not notice yet, I grew up with 2 sisters. I am the middle of these 2 girls and having a pair of females as siblings is not really.. hmm... how should I put this.. much fun. Haha. Let me elaborate. First of all, soccer was never in the agenda. My Dad is not a soccer fan and he is also a non-smoker so I grew up smoke and soccerless. Being girls, my sisters were also not programmed to have this affection with the soccer ball or any bouncing rubber spherical toys for that matter. They were into playing make believe and pretending to be mothers and shopping and all that girly stuff… the Malays term for this girly children activity, is known as :- “main masak-masak.” |

| Now
“main masak masak” is your “tea party” equivalent.
My sisters would dress up their toys and talk to them as if they are actual
living breathing guests. Nevermind if the fuzzy bear have only one button
eye and it’s missing an arm, you have to be polite because, after
all he is a guest. They serve invisible tea in small plastic purple cups.
And they make you eat plastic shaped food. By now, my sister would be busy engaging in a frenzy of gossips about bitchy Barbies and expensive plastic groceries. I would play along and appear to be disgusted by the exorbitant prices of play-doh hot dogs, as I helped myself to another cup of invisible tea, which to me, always tasted kinda bland. My elder sis, Nora, who is very particular about her invisible food cooking skills would quickly pass me a small container with the word “sugar” scribbled on it. |

| I am so good at this make believe thing that I was immediately allowed to play other roles like a Dad, a postman, a policeman and even a cat. Yes, my sisters made me crawl on all fours and pretend that I was a cat. I have to practically meow for hours just to get some imaginary cat food and eat as they continue their gossip as they pat my head. Come to think of it, I was also a freaking CHAIR. Since they were out of stools my younger sis sat on my back and I had to stay still. Man, I didn’t know it sucked that bad. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Growing up brother-less was, as you can see, can be damaging to a family with only one boy. I played alone with my plastic AK-47 flashy lights and made sound effects with my Centurion action figures. Fortunately, my younger sis was close to me and I effectively made her a tomboy. I don’t know how many times her head got banged on the wall because of some wrestling move. I’m surprise she’s not retarded (or is she? Haha.) | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Oh well, my art skills was very much in demand because since I know practically how to make anything out of cardboard, I made my sisters a cardboard washing machine complete with a turnable knob which was made out of an egg carton. Because of that, I suddenly gained some respect and earned the role as the washing machine repair guy. Well, beats being a chair right. Then eventually, since they like to play house so much.. I did the unthinkable.. I made a house entirely out of cardboard. Now I’m a freaking landlord. I collected rent every half hour and it was fun. I was rich with monopoly money.. yes people, real estate is where the money is! | ||||||||||||||||||||

Actually growing
up with sisters have its upside. I was very popular with the girls when
I was in Primary school because I know how to “relate” with
them. Everything was peachy until puberty hits of course… after
that, they avoid me like the plague. But whatever it is, I do fantasize
about having a brother because there’s so many things we could terrorize.
We can spar with each other and fight the school bully- tag team style,
we can learn boy skills like do the ollie on a skateboard and if he's
good, he can teach me, he can be my counterstrike partner to back me up
while a throw a 3D grenade and lastly I like the convenience of solving
an argument with the occasional punch in the face :D I
have brotherly friends, |
